There are several ways you can help or become involved such as making a donation, joining as a member, sponsoring an animal, donating items for resale at our Bazaar or by offering us a particular skill or service. Donations: You can make these when you visit by dropping a contribution in our donation box. Or you can post us a cheque payable to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm Ltd to Company Office Woodgate Valley Urban Farm Ltd, 12 Doulton Close, Harborne, Birmingham B32 2XF. Becoming a member: Membership is one of the best ways you can not only support us but become a part of the farm. If you would like to become a member please contact us Sponsoring an animal: By sponsoring a farm animal you are supporting us to feed them and maintain their homes for that year. Animals can be sponsored for a little as thirty pounds a year. The sponsorship will further include automatic membership for the person paying the the sponsorship fee. Work Experience: we offer School Based Work Experience for pupils at Year 10 and above, who have a special interest in and/or are aiming for a careers working with animals or in veterinary medicine to work with both small and large animals, and carry out associated site maintenance duties. Places are limited, so an early application is essential. Please contact us to progress. We also consider individual work experience approaches by suitable young people and adults seeking to work with with livestock ( e.g. at 'A' level and beyond) to assist in securing a placement with a college or university, or to supplement their C.V. afterwards. Volunteering opportunities for those with existing farming qualifications or experience who are 'between work' or who wish to widen their experience of people, within a community project in tandem, can also be considered if there is an ability to commit to a mutually agreed schedule. However, please note, we no longer offer work experience for those seeking places with us for day or multiple day release which is a part of their College course unless written agreement of the college concerned is produced indicating that they will assist us with our costs in relation to the placement. General Volunteers: The opportunity to join our team is limited because of our ongoing commitment to placements, partnership working, team days, special work groups, and work experience. This involvement provides the majority of our required day to day physical input. However, an individual who can offer particular skills and experience is welcome to make a formal application, which will be considered on it's merits and in view of our needs at any particular point in time. Such applicants need to be above 18 years of age and be able to commit to a mutually agreed fixed schedule. A recruitment and interview process will be applied if work is available. Offer the farm your skills and services: The Farm runs upon small funds and anyone who is able to offer free specialist skills, or services at a reduced rate, would be welcomed.
